How to Clean Foggy Headlights?
If you notice that the headlights are a lot less bright than they used to be or the light has a yellowish, dingy tinge to it, you are dealing with foggy headlights. This problem causes less visibility on the road while driving. At Mike’s Auto Spa we not only want your car to be as clean as possible but for you to be safe. For these reasons, we have brought you today a simple guide to clean the headlights of your car.
- A soft-bristled brush
- Non-abrasive cleanser
- Clean towels
You can also use baking soda or toothpaste as both products will take off the fog without scratching or damaging the headlights.
Before you start, make sure to park your car in a shaded area.
Spritz the area with a cleaning product of your choice and gently wipe away any dead bugs, dirt, mud, or any other foreign particles that may be fixed to the surface. Then, with a dry towel wipe down the surface until there is no moisture left.
Restore the Headlights
Apply a fair amount of cleanser, toothpaste or baking soda onto the headlight lenses. Let the product sit on the lens for six minutes. Next, use your brush to gently scrub the surface of the headlight. You should see the fogginess or yellowness disappearing from the plastic material as you clean the surface. Finally, use a clean towel to eliminate any cleanser from your lens.
Protect Your Lens
Additionally, you can apply a UV block coat to reduce the damage caused by these rays. This will keep your headlights from yellowing.
