Removing Stains from Your Upholstery Like a Pro
Certain spills can leave a car interior smelling funky and make the upholstery look neglected. Spills and stains can successfully vanish but it is important to use the correct products and techniques. Not only will you completely remove that nasty imperfection but prevent any undesirable odors from persisting. Our car detailer experts share today some secrets to safely clean your car’s upholstery.
The key to effectively removing wine and to eliminating the odor is to use a biological cleaning product which contains enzymes and active ingredients that effectively break down the spillage or stain at the source. Grab a clean white cloth and sponge the stain with the cleaning solution. Next, sponge again with cold water and blot dry.
If possible, blot the coffee as quickly as you can. Don’t let it dry as fresh spills are easier to eliminate than old-dried coffee. With the help of a clean cloth or paper towel, soak up the excess coffee as much as you can. Then, make a mix of one-third vinegar, two-thirds water and a few drops of liquid dish soap. Put a bit of the cleaning solution onto the stain and then rub gently with a clean dishtowel or sponge. Blot as much as you can, and finally blow dry the wet area.
To clean up soda stains, use the same method for removing coffee stains. But this time mix a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid with a cup and a half of water.
Grease and Oil Stains
Use a paint scraper to scrape off any excess oil or grease. Blot the stain with a dry paper towel. Apply baking soda to the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes. Finally, remove the baking soda with a vacuum or sweep it up.
