Using Toothpaste to Make Your Car Shine Again
Toothpaste is designed to clean your teeth. However, its formula makes this amazing product a sanding and cleaning tool for diverse surfaces, and your car is no exception. Here are some great hacks to clean your car with toothpaste.
Remove Scratches and Scuffs
Toothpaste is not a magical formula, if scratches or scuffs have penetrated the paint, it requires another technique to get rid of them. But, if those imperfections are not severe, toothpaste works just fine. Before you scrub the affected surface, make sure it is clean. Then, use a damp cloth with a bit of toothpaste and start rubbing in a circular motion.
Because headlights are so close to the paint panels of your car, you must take precautions. Using masking tape, cover the areas surrounding the headlights to avoid accidental scuffing. With a toothpaste-laden cloth start rubbing in circular motions. Once you are done, rinse with water and let them dry.
Eliminate Hard Water Stains
Hard water stains are a product of contaminated water, such as acid rain. Your car windows and windshield are constantly protecting you from the elements. And, while doing its job, they take all the biting. After the water evaporates, all that is left is calcium and potassium deposits. This is bad news. However, you can get rid of these marks with toothpaste.
Put a smear of toothpaste onto a damp, clean soft cloth. Rub the toothpaste over the stained area, then wipe down with a wet sponge to remove the product.
Additional Car Cleaning Tips
- Never use gel toothpaste.
- Before using toothpaste as a cleaner, wash the surface with a cloth or sponge dampened with soapy water. Rinse with plain water.
- After cleaning with soap, let the affected area dry.
